A total of 209 pregnant women with overweight or obesity were enrolled and allocated at random to either a supervised strength-training programme or conventional prenatal care. Sessions commenced between weeks 12 and 14 of gestation and continued through week 36 or until delivery, whichever came first. The protocol combined weekly supervised gym visits with prescribed home exercises, encouraging participants to train three times per week using light free weights or resistance bands.
