One primary initiative requires oral presentations for all written assignments submitted remotely. This verification process extends to the SSO examination, an annual assessment taken by approximately 9,000 secondary students nationwide. Additionally, educational facilities must deploy screen-monitoring software during written examinations to track student activity in real-time.

Technical safeguards will also be strengthened through mandatory firewall implementation that filters internet content throughout instructional periods and testing sessions. Furthermore, schools are encouraged to have learners complete coursework within supervised classroom settings. The ministry explains this approach facilitates better oversight of student progress, enables timely feedback, and establishes reliable evaluation foundations.

Minister’s Vision for AI Integration

“I will engage in dialogue with schools, teachers and students about what can be done in the short and slightly longer term, so that we can ensure that AI does not undermine students’ skills, academic abilities and, above all, their ability to think for themselves,” Heunicke said.

Denmark’s approach reflects ongoing efforts to balance technological advancement with educational quality. The country previously piloted an innovative program last year that permitted learners to utilize AI tools during English speaking examinations in secondary education. Recent Eurobarometer research indicates that roughly 54 percent of European respondents acknowledge both advantages and difficulties associated with AI in teaching and learning contexts.
