Kyiv Hit by Overnight Barrage: Dozens Injured as Buildings Toppled Across Three Districts

Poinews.com – Ukraine’s Emergency Service confirmed that no fewer than 33 people sustained injuries when Russian projectiles struck twelve separate sites across the capital. The air-raid siren had not yet fallen silent by the time dawn approached, leaving residents trapped indoors through the worst of the night.

Devastation in Solomianskyi and Beyond

The most severe structural damage occurred in Solomianskyi district, where the upper two storeys of a nine-floor residential tower were blown away entirely. Flames consumed multiple remaining levels of the building. Rescue teams extracted nine wounded individuals from the collapsed debris, yet two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Surrounding apartments, a paediatric hospital, and parked cars all sustained collateral damage.

Across the wider affected zones — spanning Darnytskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi — the barrage also struck a medical facility and a school. Warehouses, transport vehicles and other non-residential structures caught fire, stretching emergency crews thin as they scrambled between callouts citywide.

Air-Defence Strain and Power Outages

The overnight assault coincided with a marked increase in Russian ballistic-missile launches aimed at Kyiv, intensifying pressure on Ukraine’s interceptor network. The capital fields only a small complement of systems rated to engage ballistic-class threats, and stockpiles of interceptor rounds for American-built Patriot batteries remain tight. In the aftermath, roughly 90,000 households lost electricity. Utility operator DTEK reported that more than half of those connections had been restored by the following morning.
