Eighteen apartment buildings and seventeen standalone homes were damaged, along with a church, fuel station, commercial shops, gas pipelines, agricultural structures, private garages, and vehicles.
In northern Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast, Russian attacks resulted in one death—a fifty-three-year-old man—and eight additional injuries. These ongoing Russian strikes across Ukraine demonstrate the widespread nature of the conflict and its impact on communities throughout the country.
Diplomatic Efforts and International Response
Ukrainian officials simultaneously reported damage to a shopping complex in Kryvyi Rih on Sunday. Witnesses observed flames erupting at an Epitsentr DIY retail location following the strike. On the diplomatic front, Kazakhstan’s President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev reportedly urged Russian leader Vladimir Putin to conclude the conflict in Ukraine during a Saturday conversation. According to AFP, Toqayev expressed: “It is a shame, young people are dying… All this has to be stopped.” His comments came as international pressure mounts for a resolution to the ongoing crisis.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded publicly on social media, praising Toqayev for delivering what he described as a “realistic, timely, and wise message.” In a statement shared on X, Sybiha emphasized: “Ukraine has proposed stopping the war along current frontlines and turning to diplomacy, but the Kremlin continues to reject this clear path to peace.”
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had previously countered Toqayev’s remarks, telling Interfax on Saturday that freezing the conflict at present was “impossible.” This diplomatic exchange underscores the challenges facing peace negotiations as Russian strikes continue to claim lives.
North Korean Military Reinforcements
During a video address on Saturday evening, Zelenskyy warned that Moscow was actively seeking to bring an additional 30,000 North Korean soldiers into Ukraine to bolster Russian operations. The Ukrainian president stated that preparations to receive these reinforcements in the Voronezh region began back in June. He also mentioned that Pyongyang was considering supplying extra launchers for ballistic missiles.
“This is a threat not only to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy declared. “Russia is helping North Korea learn how to wage war, improve its weapons, and gain real combat experience in using them. All of this is a threat to everyone in Asia who is within range of North Korean missiles.” The potential deployment of North Korean troops represents a significant escalation in the conflict.
