From Ocean to Fairway: Silversea Introduces Golf-Centric Cruises
A New Frontier in Luxury Travel
Poinews.com – Themed cruises have long been a staple of the travel industry, yet cruise lines continue to innovate by offering more specialized routes. Recent additions to the list of unique experiences include Game of Thrones-themed voyages in Croatia and Formula 1-focused excursions by MSC Cruises’ luxury brand, Explora Journeys. Now, the wellness and active travel sector is gaining momentum, with Silversea leading the charge by launching golf-specific cruises in 2027.

Highlighting Iconic Courses Across the Globe
One of the standout journeys will depart from Southampton to Southampton, running from 14–25 August 2027. Aboard the Silver Spirit, passengers will play at Royal Liverpool, a venue that has hosted the Open Championship 13 times, followed by Prince’s Golf Club in Kent. The route then moves to Northern Ireland’s Portstewart dunes before finishing in Scotland with rounds at Castle Stuart and Dumbarnie Links.
Another itinerary, from 25 October to 3 November 2027 on the Silver Ray, will explore Mediterranean Europe’s top golf courses. Starting at Camiral’s Stadium Course, a future Ryder Cup site, the trip will include stops at Las Colinas on Spain’s southeastern coast and Son Gual and Alcanada in Mallorca.
Perhaps the most ambitious offering is a 14-day voyage on the Silver Moon, sailing from Sydney to Auckland between 29 January and 12 February 2028. This route will showcase Australia and New Zealand’s premier golf destinations, beginning with Tasmania Golf Club and Otago Golf Club before culminating at the renowned cliffside courses of Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs.
Each package includes perks such as pre-arranged tee times, green fees, luxury transportation between the ship and course, and on-site meals. Travelers can also opt to enhance select voyages with bespoke golf programs tailored by PerryGolf, ensuring a seamless blend of sport and leisure across these destinations.
