The country’s foreign ministry expressed its strongest condemnation of the attacks, which targeted its territory at dawn. This incident occurred after the U.S. military conducted strikes on Iran earlier in the week.
US Central Command revealed that American aircraft had hit Iranian missile and drone depots, as well as coastal radar sites, to retaliate for Iran’s strike on the M/V Ever Lovely. The cargo ship, operated by a Singapore-based company, was in the Strait of Hormuz when it was attacked. The strikes were said to have broken the ceasefire, according to CENTCOM, which noted the disruption to commercial shipping.

“One of the drones struck the upper deck of a large and costly cargo vessel. Damage was sustained, but the ship continued its journey. We downed three other drones,” Trump noted on his social media platform.
Iranian Criticism of U.S. Actions
Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s national security commission, condemned the U.S. for violating the ceasefire. He claimed the strikes showed a lack of dedication to peace talks, warning that such moves would lead to regret for Washington.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this month, the U.S. and Iran agreed to a ceasefire and secure passage for ships in the Strait of Hormuz. However, disputes over control of the waterway have since emerged. Iran pledged not to acquire nuclear weapons and committed to a 60-day period to finalize the deal.
